More than one woman is a dynamic character in this film. Three of them are, and they lead compelling lives. They aren’t completely focused on sex with each other or asserting their queerness to the world either, as is the case with some of the campier or tropier films of the LGBTQ variety. Zaynab and Alma live and love each other in a way that compels an audience to appreciate their pairing.

EARTHxFilm has announced its CALL FOR ENTRIES looking for documentary, narrative and short submissions for the second annual film festival in April 2018 with prize money totaling $25,000. EARTHxFilm takes place during EARTHx, a global environmental expo and summit in Dallas, Texas.

The Indie Memphis Film Festival presented by Duncan-Williams, Inc., (November 1-6) has announced its full slate of films for the 20th edition of the annual festival this year. Oliver Butler and Will Eno’s THOM PAIN opens the festival, while Lynn Sachs’s TIP OF MY TONGUE is the Closing Night selection. In between those two films and among the competition films, are a special salute to Abel Ferrara, a MLK50 series honoring the slain Civil Rights leader, a special sneak peak at Craig Brewer’s new television series, a special sidebar of shorts featuring the work of filmmakers from Saudi Arabia, a music-filled block party, and a full slate of screenings featuring many of the most critically revered and popular films from this year’s film festival circuit.

The 15th Annual Tallgrass Film Festival presented by Consolidated Equities Trust (October 18-22) today announced the full schedule for this year’s edition with an impressive roster of Gala selections including; Quentin Krog’s FOR THE BIRDS (Opening Night Gala), Byron Davis’s HUNTING EMMA (Centerpiece Gala), and Lysa Heslov’s SERVED LIKE A GIRL (Closing Night Gala).

The Closing Night red carpet for the Austin Gay & Lesbian Film Festival featured the filmmaking teams behind BROTHERLY LOVE and SOMETHING LIKE SUMMER and a handful of other filmmakers in addition to the belles of that night’s Ball – the Co-Director of BECKS, Elizabeth Rohrbaugh and the woman that starred as the film’s title character, Lena Hall. Once again, everyone had a great time with the photos and the interviews and aGLIFF closed out their 30th edition of the fest with a lot of fun.
