Stretching eight days, the festival will offer the bulk of its screening and events on the weekend, while the weekday schedule will be lighter.
The festival will also continue with our annual HEAD TRIP shorts program, which previously was expanded into a feature film sidebar spotlighting films that push the boundaries and expectations of the horror genre.

Tallgrass Film Festival
Tallgrass was founded in 2002 and is Kansas’s largest independent film festival. Named a top 25 Coolest Film Fest and Top 50 Film Festival Worth the Entry Fee for multiple years by MovieMaker Magazine, the festival is a hallmark of the region’s cinematic landscape and an internationally recognized, multi-day platform for world-class cinematic programming.
The festival brings sophisticated movie-goers of all ages and backgrounds – hungry for quality independent film – audiences are receptive, opinionated, and genuine. Screening a film at Tallgrass catalyzes awareness and buzz in the country’s epicenter that radiates throughout the region. The visiting filmmakers are also accessible at Tallgrass. Due to the city’s authentic nature, it’s common to find an Oscar-winning filmmaker deep in conversation with a high school documentarian or an avid movie-goer.

Beyond Fest
Beyond Fest is the highest-attended genre film festival in the U.S. and exists to serve the genre community of Los Angeles, with an annual fall festival and year-round special screenings & premieres in partnership with the American Cinematheque. A not-for-profit entity, Beyond Fest raises funds for the 501C3 non-profit film institution, American Cinematheque.
In 2024, Beyond Fest hosted screenings at the Aero Theatre, Los Feliz 3, and The Egyptian Theatre. Previously, screenings have also been held at Regency Westwood Village, Mission Tiki Drive-In, TCL Chinese Theatre, Hollywood Legion Theater, and IMAX Headquarters/Playa Vista.
Beyond Fest is seeking exemplary genre short and feature films that are truly beyond in terms of content and form, with a particular interest in the categories of horror, dark comedy, and/or mind-bending films that defy description from around the world.
