Brett Morgen’s CROSSFIRE HURRICANE and more! TEN MOST RECENT FILMS WATCHED: Entertaining Myself During the Holidays Edition from Films Gone Wild

This list incorporates some films that I learned about either on journalists end-of-year “these films were underrated” lists (BLACK ’47) or some Facebook discussion along the lines of “Have you seen this? You should check it out!” (PORNDEMIC). I exploited a free sample week of HBO and Showtime memberships to watch some films for free that I hadn’t yet caught (PADDINGTON 2, READY PLAYER ONE, JANE FONDA IN FIVE ACTS), had the dutiful Christmas film viewing late one night (A CHRISTMAS CAROL), and cracked open one of my Blu Ray gifts (RAMPAGE).

Andrew Bujalski’s SUPPORT THE GIRLS : TEN MOST RECENT FILMS WATCHED – The Pre-“End of the Year Catching Up Dash” List of Films from Films Gone Wild

It’s pretty random (as is typical with me) inspired by thoughts of “Have I seen the director’s cut?” (WATCHMEN), or “That’s a classic screwball comedy I’ve never actually seen..” (THE AWFUL TRUTH), to Nic Roeg dying (PERFORMANCE), finding a film at the theater that my wife and I could both agree on (THE FRONT RUNNER), re-watching a favorite documentary of mine (DEPALMA), being at a theater and asking which film is literally in previews right now so I can immediately see it without waiting a half hour (THE FAVOURITE), to checking out a film that a lot of friends spoke highly of (THE DEATH OF STALIN).

J.A. BAYONA’s JURASSIC WORLD: FALLEN KINGDOM: TEN MOST RECENT FILMS WATCHED: Sound Unseen Film Festival Rocks This List!

First off, yes it IS a dozen films. What of it?! But this latest list is pretty much all about the Sound Unseen Film Festival and the music documentaries I saw there and I saw quite a few fews there that I wanted to include here. There is, of course the typical all-over-the-map choices before hand (Orson Welles doc into Leigh Whannell action/horror? Sure, why not?!). Also, after each of my film festivals I have a “violent reaction” with the next films I watch to “cleanse the palate. ” In this case, following the cool music docs, I headed straight for the biggest, dumbest movies I could watch: THE MEG and the latest JURASSIC WORLD sequel. Hmmmm…perfect. Thanks Jason Statham and Chris Pratt!

10 (Okay…15 in this case) MOST RECENT FILMS WATCHED: Wrapping up 2017 with past film fest viewings and Christmas films (which will be a surprise to no one) from Films Gone Wild

As I was looking at my 2017 list of films, I realize that I had not included the films I saw at the Tallgrass Film Festival, nor did I include the films I saw at the Lone Star Film Festival. I’m actually a little surprised this hadn’t happened before as the year had some jam-packed film fest travel periods with a lot going on. So, here are the films as well as the holiday viewing choices that wrapped up the year….

10 MOST RECENT FILMS WATCHED: Indie Memphis, NewFilmmakers L.A., a benefit, the theater, VOD, and DVD – movies coming from all over the place from Films Gone Wild

This one includes the last couple of films I caught at Indie Memphis, the L.A. Premiere of QUALITY PROBLEMS at New Filmmakers L.A., a benefit screening of FERRIS BUELLER to benefit my friend, and Dallas’s legendary personality Devin Pike, some eclectic choices on VOD and DVD, the first holiday movie, and the irony of watching Chris Nolan’s totally shot in film DUNKIRK on a plane as I headed home from Los Angeles.

10 MOST RECENT FILMS WATCHED: Brooke Purdy QUALITY PROBLEMS Tops List: This one is ALL About the Women Texas Film Festival from Films Gone Wild

Well, it kinda had to because I wanted to include each of the films I watched at the just concluded Women Texas Film Festival. That just seemed to make sense. Prior to that it were some favorites (YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN and ED WOOD), a classic I had never seen (CARMEN JONES), and the latest in state-of-the-art ass-kicking no the big screen (ATOMIC BLONDE).
