Chris Butler Movie Posters: CHRISTMAS SHOPPING IDEAS FOR MOVIE FANS WHO HAVE SEEN IT ALL

Every year for the past decade and a half, my wife Justina Walford and I have thrown a Christmas Party that has become something of an institution. First in L.A., then in New York, and now, in Dallas. And I always get comments from people for the wall art we have. One reason for that is because there is not a wall in the house that isn’t COVERED with movie posters, movie stills, paintings, hanging sculptures, etc.

It’s my “fault” for the most part since I must have A LOT of visual stimulus all of the time. Oftentimes, our guests ask me where I got one poster or image versus another, and since I’m all Golden Rule about this shit, I thought it would be great to promote some artists that I truly think are the best – so much so that Idle Wild Manor (which is what we call our home) serves as an art gallery for their work.

The first one will be alternate movie posters by Chris Butler Designs. They are colorful, they capture so much of the energy of the films, and they are just flat-out fun in a lot of ways.

Look at the posters I have hanging in my home right now and others that I will soon be framing as well as some more favorites of mine and then go do some Christmas shopping for the cool stuff!

Get Out, Chris Butler Designs
This one is already in the IdleWild Manor Gore Room
An American Werewolf in London, Chris Butler Designs
A biggie from my childhood. This one is also in the Gore Room.
You're Next, Chris Butler Designs
I recently screened this film for my 90-year-old mom. (And she LOVED it.) This one is on the way to IdleWild Manor
28 Days Later, Chris Butler Designs
I stood in a line for 5 hours in the freezing cold at the Sundance Film Festival to see the Midnight World Premiere of this film. It will soon be in the Gore Room too..
Black Christmas, Chris Butler Designs
This will be part of our yearly Christmas decor going forward..
It's A Wonderful Life, Chris Butler Designs
And you thought it was going to be all horror all the time, right?

And now for some posters I love but just don’t have room for. Well, that is until we build another house and I have more wall space. I’ll start with some classics…

The Bride of Frankenstein, Chris Butler Designs
I love this take on one of my favorite classics. (It’s kinda got a neat Brady Bunch vibe to it, yes?)
The Wolf Man
Check out the text: His hideous howl a dirge of death! and, Not a ‘Thing’..but a mortal man – a living horror..with its unearthly body a twitching tombe of strange desires! It’s like , “Dude, I don’t know who the Wolf Man killed in your family, but chill. Seriously.”
Dracula
I mean, you say “A nightmare of horror!” but this kinda makes Dracula out to be cool and sexytime.

Here are some film favorites of mine that I really dig the treatment of with these posters..

Stephen King's Carrie
If I didn’t already have a big framed still of Carrie getting her mad on at the prom, I’d have ordered this one already.
Night of the Creeps
“Thrill me!” is fucking right! Love. love, love this film AND this fun poster.
Trick 'R Treat
The ultimate Halloween movie aside from the one that..well..I think you know the other one. Again, it’s just a great, fun poster treatment.
Us
Here’s a minimalist approach that I like quite a bit, proving they aren’t just one-trick ponies with their poster concepts.
Ready or Not
Another one changing things up a little bit – yet, still an attention grabber.
Alien
I am still thinking of switching out my Alien poster for this one. I mean, our cats kinda “own” the Gore Room, so it would make sense.

And there are so many many many many more. Check out the Etsy site, which also includes greeting cards and more. Here is the link again: https://www.etsy.com/shop/ChrisButlerDesigns?page=5#items.
