Roger Bart to be honored at Oxford Film Festival as this year’s Lisa Blount Memorial Acting Award Honoree
The 2019 Oxford Film Festival (February 6-10) announced that Roger Bart will be honored with this year’s annual Lisa Blount Memorial Acting Award prior to the Opening Night Gala screening of John Stimpson’s GHOST LIGHT on Thursday, February 7 at 7:00PM at the Gertrude C. Ford Center (351 University Ave.).
Oxford Film Festival Executive Director Melanie Addington, said, “We pride ourselves in celebrating the work of actors’ actors with the Lisa Blount Memorial Acting Award each year, and Roger Bart could not fit the bill more perfectly. Whether you’ve been impressed by his characters in films like AMERICAN GANGSTER, THE PRODUCERS, LAST VEGAS, and TRUMBO, or happen to be a huge genre fan and have appreciated his work in films like HOSTEL: PART II, THE MIDNIGHT MEAT TRAIN, and EXCISION, Roger exemplifies great character acting. And this will be a wonderful night and setting to celebrate his career – prior to the Opening Night Gala screening of his latest film, GHOST LIGHT.”
In addition to the films mentioned previously, Bart has also made a significant mark on TV (“Desperate Housewives”, “How I Met Your Mother,” “Graves”, and most recently, “A Series of Unfortunate Events”), as well as being a veteran and Tony and Drama Desk Award winner on the Broadway stage (“You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown”).
Stimpson’s GHOST LIGHT combines laughs and scares as an understudy, aiming for the lead role and the leading lady during a traveling production of Shakespeare’s Macbeth, unleashes mayhem by disregarding the time-honored superstitions that go along with staging “The Scottish Tragedy.” The film stars an impressive cast including Cary Elwes, Roger Bart, Carol Kane, Shannyn Sossamon, Danielle Campbell, and Tom Riley. The film screens Thursday, February 7 at 7:00PM at the Gertrude C. Ford Center (351 University Ave.).
