FILM FESTIVAL NEWS: Spanish actor Assumpta Serna makes an impression in Dallas at the USA Film Festival
Thursday, April 26 and Friday, April 27, internationally acclaimed actor, Assumpta Serna came to Dallas, Texas to appear with her film THE NETWORK OF FREEDOM (Red de Libertad) at the USA Film Festival.
The film, in the early stages of its film festival run, played to a standing room only house, and Serna charmed the press during appearances over the two days and the evening’s audience on Friday night. Serna, who has been honored in 20 different countries for her acting and speaks no less than five languages has a real emotional investment in the film, which was directed by Pablo Moreno on a shoestring budget.
Portraying a real life hero, Helena Studler, a nun and Sister of Charity, Serna didn’t just make a rare connection with a “character”, her portrayal of Studler has endeared her to a worldwide network of Sisters of Charity, who rightly view Studler, who managed to outmaneuver the Nazis to save the lives of 1000s of orphans, jews, and other prisoners, as their own personal super hero.
