The Chimaera Project launches Mix ‘n’ Match filmmaker and composer collaboration initiative
The Chimaera Project, which has been a leading force in the film industry assisting and promoting female and non-binary filmmakers and their careers for more than a decade via financing and mentorship from top industry professionals, announced today the launch of Mix ‘n’ Match — an innovative, new program designed to foster creativity and collaboration between filmmakers and composers.
Project Mix ‘n’ Match Participants
Filmmakers April Wright, Adri Murguia, and Cheryl Bookout have been selected as the participants for the debut with their projects.

“Our goal is to cultivate the composer-director relationship in a low-pressure, creatively supportive environment- a rarity in any artist’s life,” says Mix ‘n’ Match Co-Chairs, Stacy Sweeting and Shana Betz.

The program pairs one director & their film with three composers. Composers score a 60 second film clip from that filmmaker’s project that is currently in post-production. This unique structure gives filmmakers the opportunity to experience various musical interpretations of the scene, while sparking meaningful conversations about vision, tone, language and emotional resonance.
Launching Mix ‘n’ Match with Department of Cultural Affairs, City of Los Angeles
With support from the Department of Cultural Affairs, City of Los Angeles, mentorship opportunities for young, aspiring musicians are baked into the program. Selected students shadow industry professionals throughout the scoring process to gain valuable hands-on experience in storytelling.
