Lake Travis Film Festival wraps 3rd edition with filmmaker awards

The Third Lake Travis Film Festival announced its filmmaker awards during brunch at Bee Cave’s famous Star Hill Ranch (15000 Hamilton Pool Rd) as LTFF wrapped up another celebratory weekend packed with film fans and filmmakers converging on the Lake Travis areas of Bee Cave and Lakeway for four days of screenings, panels, parties, and events that the film festival has become noted for.

Laura Lehmus’s Sweet Disaster took the jury prize for Best Narrative Feature Film and Gulya Mirzoeva’s Katia and Rimma won the Best Documentary Feature Film award.

JEDI TRAINING – EQUALITY BEGINS AT FIRST BOLT

Additional winners taking home the LTTF’s signature Kaleidoscope Lens Awards were Gudmund Helmsdal’s Brother Troll (Best Narrative Short Film), Drew J Hayes’ Jedi Training – Equality Begins at the First Bolt (Best Documentary Short Film), Kyle Ward’s Gone (Best Youth Film), and Billy Cano’s Baker Hotel (Best Music Video). Script competition winners included Diamond Keener’s “The Bloom of 1982” (Best Feature Script), and Barry Ward’s “A Gift from God” (Best Short Script).

The LTTF once again presented a robust red carpet – a rarity among Austin film festivals that includes participation from all attending filmmakers, with additional highlights including a pre-festival screenwriting masterclass with screenwriter Owen Egerton (Mercy Black, Blood Fest), a pitch party, live script readings, and screenings tying together the Lakeway and Bee Cave film-loving communities outside of Austin.
