Founder Gregory Kallenberg of Louisiana Film Prize announces record breaking first weekend of worldwide views

Founder Gregory Kallenberg of the 2020 Louisiana Film Prize reported an overwhelming number of views during the opening weekend of this year’s worldwide virtual presentation of the film festival.

20 short film finalists, all of which were filmed in the state of Louisiana, are competing this year for a $25,000 grand prize (the world’s largest cash prize for a narrative short film).

In just 5 days, over 15,000 streams/viewings have taken place.

So far, film lovers from 28 states (including Alabama, Arkansas, California, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Illinois, Louisiana, Maryland, Mississippi, New York, Nebraska, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon, Rhode Island, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Washington, Wisconsin) have watched the Film Prize films and voted for their favorites. Countries around the world include; Australia, Canada, Germany, Holland, Ireland, Netherlands, Sweden, and the United Kingdom.

As expected, numerous cities throughout the state of Louisiana have watched and participated during the first weekend of Film Prize with 13 out of the 20 finalists hailing from the state. Possibly less expected is that a number of cities in the United Kingdom have done so, as well.

Gregory Kallenberg, Founder and Executive Director of the Film Prize Foundation, said, “While we had high hopes this year, knowing we were unleashing the one-of-a-kind Film Prize experience on the world in a greater fashion than we ever have before, we never expected these kind of numbers. And we haven’t even reached our half-way point!”
