THE SYNOPSIS: Unsatisfied with life after years of writing novels more interesting than his own life, Larry goes on one last adventure before his scheduled demise. But Dale, an uninvited companion, disrupts his final chapter.

WHAT DID WE TALK ABOUT: We talk about challenges Hugo faced when one of his two main leads has to be replaced at the very last moment (a little more than a week prior to principal photography beginning). He also discusses the pros and cons of shooting at a Scottish island’s landscape (including moving the film equipment over harsh terrain). The decisions of putting a cast and crew together based on personality as much as talent are talked about as well. Hugo also gets into the director needing to regulate their own emotions (especially during tough shoot days) in order to properly communicate and motivate their crew.
