10 (Okay…15 in this case) MOST RECENT FILMS WATCHED: Wrapping up 2017 with past film fest viewings and Christmas films (which will be a surprise to no one) from Films Gone Wild

As I was looking at my 2017 list of films, I realize that I had not included the films I saw at the Tallgrass Film Festival, nor did I include the films I saw at the Lone Star Film Festival. I’m actually a little surprised this hadn’t happened before as the year had some jam-packed film fest travel periods with a lot going on. So, here are the films as well as the holiday viewing choices that wrapped up the year….

FILM FESTIVAL NEWS: Justin Chon's GOOK, and Jeremy S. Levine and Landon Van Soest's FOR AHKEEM lead the way as the 2017 Tallgrass Film Festival Announces their Filmmaker Awards

The 14th Annual Tallgrass Film Festival presented by Consolidated Equities Trust (October 12-16) announced their filmmaker awards, led by Golden Strands Outstanding Feature Awards for Justin Chon’s GOOK (Narrative), and Jeremy S. Levine and Landon Van Soest’s FOR AHKEEM (Documentary), prior to their Closing Night Gala screening of Lysa Heslov’s SERVED LIKE A GIRL on Sunday, October 22 at the Orpheum Theater in Wichita, Kansas.

FILM FESTIVAL NEWS: Leena Pendharkar ’s 20 WEEKS, BLUR CIRCLE, BOMB CITY, I HATE THE MAN: The 2017 Tallgrass Film Festival announces the 4 Stubbornly Independent Selections which will vie for a $5000 Grand Prize

“This year’s selections feature stories and characters that are both timely and easily relatable, while delivering a unique and bold take, leading to films that feel anything but familiar,” said Tallgrass Film Festival Programing Director Nick Pope. “Ultimately these are films about redemption and self-discovery in a world that can be messy and unpredictable, but also rewarding and surprising.
