The Chimaera Project announces recipients for 2022 TO.GET.HER film finishing funds for female and non-binary filmmakers

Founders of The Chimaera Project, Shana Betz, Cheryl Bookout, and America Young, said, “It was an extremely detailed and painstaking process to review and assess all of the projects seeking TO.GET.HER finishing funds. As filmmakers ourselves, we understand the seemingly unsurmountable hurdles to complete a film, so everyone involved with this project took that responsibility extremely seriously. We’re thrilled for each and every one of the filmmakers who will be receiving these funds, and could not be happier that we have been able to lend a hand toward each of them realizing that dream  to finish their projects, move forward in their careers, and bottom line – make films.”

The Chimaera Project’s chooses first group of SUPPORT.HER filmmakers and film artists for industry mentorships

The impressive group of mentors and the filmmakers and film artists they will be paired with, include; Vickie Toro being mentored by showrunner Maurissa Tancharoen (Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.); Teresa Jusino with writer Marc Bernardin (Star Trek: Picard); Julia Monahan with director Alexis Ostrander (Supergirl); Kristina James with composer Bear McCreary (Foundation); Jade Grace with Passionflix founder and director Tosca Musk (Driven); and compositing supervisor Joe Censoplano (Eternals) will be mentoring two women in VFX, Michelle Grey and Alisha Sweeting.

Chimaera Project launches SUPPORT.HER, mentorship program for female filmmakers

The Chimaera Project’s Casey McKinnon and America Young share, “As filmmakers, we deeply understand the value of spending even one-hour consulting with someone you admire in your chosen field – someone who has achieved a level of success you yourself are working toward. Learning from the mistakes of others and getting the support you need to propel you to the next level is priceless.” They added, “At the end of the day, we want these filmmakers to know that they aren’t an afterthought in the industry, they are the reason we wake up in the morning. Their voices matter and we recognize they have a unique vision that deserves to be seen.”
