Dallas Film Society and The Dallas International Film Festival announced today that Johnathan Brownlee was appointed CEO & President of the Dallas Film Society and Executive Director of the Dallas International Film Festival.
The Closing Night red carpet for the Women Texas Film Festival was as energetic, eclectic, and fun as the headlining film, QUALITY PROBLEMS. Writer, director, star, Brooke Purdy and producer Colette Freedman set the tone for WTxFF’s big finale evening that included films from representing all sections and genres at the festival: documentaries, comedy, drama, horror, etc., you name it – the women that made it were on that carpet.

Thanks to the Dallas Film Society’s Movie Madness Marathon fundraiser at Studio Movie Grill and the the wonderful Dallas Asian Film Festival, I’ve had a rare streak of actually seeing a lot a films in the theater.
The Summer Movie Madness Marathon mimics fundraising walks, runs, and bike rides, with the participants asked to acquire pledges from friends, family, co-workers, etc. to donate funds based on whether or not they watch all four films that day. There will also be prizes for the film fans given away at each screening and for the most money raised for the organization, as well as special appearances to introduce each of the films.
Three-time Academy Award winner Robert Benton was the guest of honor with one of the film’s iconic stars, Faye Dunaway (due to be feted the very next night) in attendance to celebrate with Benton as he received the Dallas Star Award and discussed his incredible writing and filmmaking career.
