Brooklyn’s Greenpoint Film Festival 2023 announces Filmmaker Awards

Greenpoint Film Festival Creative Director Ricardo Vilar, said, “This was a wonderful edition of the film festival, highlighted by a coming together of filmmakers both local and as far away as Europe and Asia to share their films with us and connect with each other, here in North Brooklyn. It was exciting to hear audience members and their fellow filmmakers give feedback with conversations inspired by the thought provoking subjects and entertaining cinema they had just watched. Presenting these awards was a perfect way to wrap up a fantastic event celebrating truly independent film.”

Brooklyn’s Greenpoint Film Festival 2023 wraps a great fest with a green carpet

Prior to the film festival’s filmmaker awards presentations and Closing Night screening of Saim Sadiq’s Canes award winner Joyland, Brooklyn’s Greenpoint Film Festival held their green carpet accenting the fest’s attention to eco-friendly details by having a step and repeat made out of wood. However, the filmmakers, cast members, and documentary subjects were anything but wooden at the film festival which had all the indie and youthful energy that you would expect at a film festival which makes its home in Brooklyn.

SHORTS AND TO THE POINT: Konstantina Kotzamami ‘s LIMBO is a haunting journey through symbolism, gender performance and socialization

How Kotzamani’s symbols in LIMBO are knit together in a tapestry that portrays the mystery that is woman between burned virgins, male anger, and a whale that loses whole humans in its belly as a pack of young boys ponder it is nothing less than masterful storytelling that equally enraptures the viewer’s emotions and senses.
