CHRISTMAS SHOPPING IDEAS FOR MOVIE FANS WHO HAVE SEEN IT ALL: Todd Alcott’s iconic music-themed art demands to go up on your wall and into your head

Todd Alcott’s iconic music-themed art is a perfect Christmas shopping idea for movie fans who have seen it all.

It’s 9 days before Christmas and this will be my last helpful hints photo gallery of sincerely cool-ass gift ideas to order super last minute to make you the big winner of gift givers this year.

I am not kidding with this one. And yet again, I have put my money where my mouth is because I have so many of this guy’s work on the walls of my home that you’ll wonder where all of the other movie posters and photos fit. Seriously.

Anyway, the artist in question is Todd Alcott. You can find his stuff on Todd Alcott’s Etsy page

And the twist here is that not all of his art is film related. In fact, it is music themed, as he takes a musician or band and combines a notable song of theirs with a familiar image (book cover style, consumer product ad or packaging, etc.) that dovetails so nicely with the song itself that (as they say) it…makes you think..

Or, as it my case, it just delights you. I discovered his art because we are Facebook friends (which means we have never met, I just thought he was someone that should be in my Facebook family and he cam along peacefully) and one day he posted that someone had stolen his art and was selling stuff with his images on it.

Doing the Golden Rule thing, I said “Fuck that” and decided to buy some stuff to do my tiny part to make up for it…uh, cosmically, I guess? Anyway, the good deed I was doing quickly turned into a minor obsession with his work because it is beyond clever and precise and fun. I LOVE having it intermixed with all of the other thought-inspiring art and images on my walls. It fuses with my personality and, as they say, it keeps things interesting and thought provoking always.

Which is exactly what I want in my living space.

So here goes.

I’m going to start with a series of paperback and romance novel-styled art have in the main foyer of my house…

When Doves Cry, Todd Alcott
Love Will Tear Us Apart, Todd Alcott
Losing My Religion, Todd Alcott
Heart Shaped Box, Todd Alcott
Ain't No Cure For Love, Todd Alcott

Here are a couple from the series of David Bowie-inspired art I have in the upstairs foyer..

Young Americans, Todd Alcott
Under Pressure, Todd Alcott

This one greets me in the kitchen each morning..

Good Morning Good Morning, Todd Alcott

And someday, I’ll add this one in there too:

Only Happy When It Rains, Todd Alcott

But, I do LOVE movie posters, so let’s take a look at what he has done that will seem very familiar to you if you are a movie poster fan as well…

Black Dog, Todd Alcott
I am The Fly, Todd Alcott
I think this homage to the Italian Giallo posters will eventually wind up on one of my walls.
I’ve been coveting this 50s-esque treatment for a long time…
And finally, another one from my kitchen. This one is possibly my favorite.

Here are two more movies-inspired treatments (that you can find in my living room)..

Todd is also a HUGE Elvis Costello fan and recently contributed art to a major box set production of his work. This is another of his Elvis Costello-inspired works that I really love..

The Talking Heads also get multiple looks from Todd. Here are two more great ones..

Same thing with the Beatles…

This one gets extra credit because I was obsessed over this book (Chariots of the Gods) when I was a little kid.

Here are a couple that live in my living room. They both make me laugh like I have hanging inside jokes on my walls…

In the dining room, intermixed with art deco movie starlet photos are these two…

There are so many more, but I’ll end his sampling with two more favorites from the Bowie and Costello treatments that I love, but haven’t pulled the trigger on just yet..

As I said before, this is just the tip of the iceberg, go to Todd Alcott’s Etsy site all quick-like and order some of these and you’ll have scored high marks in gift giving-land:.
