Festival of Cinema NYC 2026 Opening Night featured Christopher Mormando’s JUDGE NO BOOK, and the red carpet was overtaken by a big Italian party, with Mormando and what seemed like his entire family holding court. And truthfully, the cast and crew for the film were clearly one big family, applauding each other as they posed for photos, ribbing each other as they did interviews, and more.
The cast was filled with familiar faces and NYC-based character actors like Anne DeSalvo, Garry Pastore, and Saul Stein. Also on the Opening Red Carpet were FOC NYC alumni Anna Capunay and Bill McDonald, with their latest film, SOMBRAS, and John Ohay, with his NYC-filmed short film THE JOURNEY. It was the prototypical Festival of Cinema NYC night: A lot of joy, a lot of family, a lot of people thrilled to be at the cinema.
Oh, and the Red Carpet was capped by the arrival of a very special guest: Martin Brest, director of BEVERLY HILLS COP, SCENT OF A WOMAN, MIDNIGHT RUN, and more swung by the theater to support Christopher Mormando and give him that extra little boost on his big night.
