The Women Texas Film Festival (WTxFF) enjoyed an busy red carpet at Studio Movie Grill’s Northwest Highway theaters in Dallas. The 2nd year of the only full-fledged, female-focused film festival in all of Texas opened with Savannah Bloch’s award winner, AND THEN THERE WAS EVE, and the Trans community (including the mayor of New Hope, Texas) came out in force to support and check out the film.

Well, it kinda had to because I wanted to include each of the films I watched at the just concluded Women Texas Film Festival. That just seemed to make sense. Prior to that it were some favorites (YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN and ED WOOD), a classic I had never seen (CARMEN JONES), and the latest in state-of-the-art ass-kicking no the big screen (ATOMIC BLONDE).

It’s hard to talk about the progression of events without giving away too much. But in case any viewer worries that the mystery of the missing hubby isn’t resolved (a la Fellini’s L’avventura), no need to fear. The building up of events comes full circle with a hard-hitting twist ending you won’t see coming, probably the most surprising reveal since…but that would be telling.
